Abstract

This section shares recent dissertations and theses with the Journal of International Students readers. There were about 139 graduate dissertations and theses related to the issues and challenges of international students in 2016. The complete versions of these selected dissertations are available in the ProQuest, Michigan-based electronic publisher. ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global is the world's most comprehensive collection of dissertations and theses from around the world, spanning from 1743 to the present day. This database has found 17,164 results from 1922-2018 while searching the keywords “international student” in its search engine.

Author Biographies

  • Krishna Bista, Morgan State University, United States

    Dr. Krishna Bista is an Associate Professor in the Department of Advanced Studies, Leadership and Policy at Morgan State University School of Education and Urban Studies, Maryland (USA). His research focuses on college student experiences related to classroom participation, perceptions of academic integrity, faculty-student relationships, role of advisors, and cross-cultural teaching and learning strategies in higher education. Previously, Dr. Bista served as the director of Global Education at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, where he was Chase Endowed Professor of Education in the School of Education.  Dr. Bista is founding editor of the Journal of International Students, a quarterly publication in international education. He is also associate editor of the Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies in Education. He has reviewed serval book projects related to educational research, international and comparative education series for Routledge, Sage, Palgrave MacMillan, and Bloomsbury publications. 

  • Utam Gaulee, Morgan State University, United States

    Uttam Gaulee is an edupreneur and a scholar of international higher education.  Currently serving as a faculty member in the Community College Leadership Doctoral Program at Morgan State University, Dr. Gaulee is an advocate of the idea of community college as a vehicle for social progress and economic development in and beyond the US. He is currently documenting the international adaptations of community college via his book project Global Adaptations of Community College Infrastructure. Dr. Gaulee has devoted the past 15 years of his academic and professional life helping to promote issues related to student success, workforce development, and institutional effectiveness. He served as program director of the Community College Futures Assembly, an independent policy think tank for community college leaders including presidents, trustees, and administrators.
