Intercultural Dynamics in Higher Education: Navigating Institutional Cultural Hubs
This special issue investigates the role of higher education institutions as cultural hubs, analyzing how institutional codes, protocols, and cultural norms influence intercultural interactions among international students, academics, and staff. Topics include academic etiquette, communication styles, social norms, and the management of cultural diversity within mobility activities such as exchanges, conferences, and collaborative projects.
The Journal of International Students calls for papers for a special issue focused on the intercultural dynamics within higher education institutions. As cultural hubs, these institutions significantly influence intercultural interactions among international students, academics, and staff. This special issue explores how institutional codes, protocols, and cultural norms shape these interactions. Topics of interest include academic etiquette, communication styles, social norms, and the management of cultural diversity within various mobility activities, such as exchanges, conferences, and collaborative projects. We invite scholars and practitioners to submit articles that shed light on the complexities of intercultural interactions in higher education settings.

Submission Guidelines:
We invite original research articles, theoretical papers, case studies, and reviews contributing to a deeper understanding of intercultural dynamics in higher education institutions. Contributions should offer insights into how institutions can navigate and leverage cultural diversity for enhanced educational outcomes.

- Full Manuscript Submission Deadline: May 15, 2025
- Peer Review Notification: July 15, 2025
Full Submission Process:
Manuscripts should be submitted through the Journal of International Students' online submission system, adhering to the journal's formatting and referencing style (APA 7th).
All authors contributing to this special issue will receive a special publication rate, including grants, discounts, and waivers, which are available as applicable.
Manuscript Types Research Articles (English)Research Articles (4,500-7,500 words) submissions use quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods research to make a new and demonstratively significant advancement in under-researched aspects of the field related to topics outlined in the journal's Aims & Scope.
Research in Briefs (English)The "Research in Brief" section of the Journal of International Students is designed to concisely analyze specific topics or questions using new or existing data sources. Articles should include a brief introduction, a discussion of the data, up to two figures/tables, a maximum of 10 references, and be within 2,000 words. Titles should be under 10 words, an abstract of 120 or less is required, and manuscripts must undergo standard peer review.
