Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
All submissions must meet the following requirements.
- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
- The submission meets word length requirements for the manuscript type, which includes article text, references, tables, and figures.
- The submission indicates that the Institutional Review Board (IRB) human subjects approval was secured, or explains why it was not required.
- The submission includes a maximum of four tables and figures uploaded as separate files, if applicable.
- The submission adheres to word count and APA 7 stylistic and bibliographic requirements.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- All identifying information has been removed from all documents and file names.
Research Articles
Research articles present original research conducted by the authors on topics listed below. Along with an abstract, these articles should include a form of the following sections: introduction, review of literature, methods, results, discussion, implications, and conclusions. The organization and development of each section may depend upon the methodology of the study. Research articles should be no longer than 6,000 words, including all figures, tables, and references. Articles should have no more than a total of four tables and/or figures.
Literature Reviews
Literature reviews explore, integrate, and/or synthesize significant literature within the scope of this journal. Reviews should include an abstract, an introduction, and headings as required. They should be no longer than 4,000 words, including all figures, tables, and references.
Best Practice Articles
Best practice articles are research-based articles that describe current best practices in the field; present new educational ideas; or analyze educational programs, practice, or theory. Best practices articles should include an abstract, an introduction, and headings as required. They should be no longer than 4,000 words, including all figures, tables, and references. Articles should have no more than a total of four tables and/or figures.
Essays and Commentaries
Essays and commentaries include professional commentary on current educational practices, policy, theory or reforms. They should be no longer than 2,000 words, including references and a maximum of two figures or tables.
Special Issue
Occasionally, JSARD publishes a special issue on a compelling topic within the field of educational leadership. For guidelines and other details, see the Call for Papers or contact the editor at editor@JSARD.org.
