About the Journal

The Journal of Innovation in  Academia is a peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly publication committed to advancing innovation in academia through interdisciplinary research, reflective inquiry, and transformative academic practices. Published by Star Scholars Press in collaboration with Kathmandu Model College, the Model Institute of Technology (MIT), and the International American University, this journal provides a dynamic platform for scholars, practitioners, and institutional leaders to explore forward-thinking ideas that enhance teaching, learning, and academic leadership—both within Nepal and globally.

JINA takes a contemporary view of academia—not merely as universities or places of teaching, but as a dynamic ecosystem of research, scholarship, higher education, knowledge creation, intellectual inquiry, collaboration, innovation, and knowledge exchange. From this perspective, academia is both a site where innovation takes place and a source through which new knowledge, ideas, technologies, methods, and solutions are translated into meaningful change in organizations, industries, economies, institutions, and society.

The journal explores innovation as a continuous process across three interconnected dimensions:

  • Innovation Within Academia - how academia itself innovates.
  • Innovation Through Academia - how academic knowledge generates and enables innovation.
  • Innovation Beyond Academia - how academic knowledge creates impact beyond academic institutions.

JINA particularly values research that moves beyond merely describing an innovation and instead explains its drivers, processes, mechanisms, adoption, implementation, outcomes, challenges, and implications.  The journal addresses innovation across multiple levels, spanning individuals, organizations, institutions, sectors, nations, and society.

Scope of the Journal

The journal welcomes original research articles, conceptual and theoretical scholarship, systematic and integrative reviews, comparative studies, case-based research, and other rigorous scholarly contributions that make a clear and substantive contribution to knowledge, academic practice, and the study of innovation.  JINA particularly encourages cross-disciplinary, cross-institutional, cross-cultural, and cross-national research that advances understanding beyond a single setting and contributes to wider scholarly conversations on innovation in academia.
