The Special Issue examines regional specificity of themes within the realm of comparative and international higher education. The call spotlights universities, technical colleges, and community colleges in the UAE and in the Gulf Region (UAE, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Qatar). The thematic issue centers on teaching STEM programs, addressing grand challenges, and leveraging digital technology.

 

Contributors should critically examine internationalization strategies and approaches that focus on effectiveness, inclusivity, and impact. This includes strategies for cultural sensitivity, equity, and the preservation of local context with innovative approaches that go beyond conventional practices of internationalization. In this context, internationalization in higher education leverages collaborative intellectual efforts to address the world's most pressing challenges, with a particular emphasis on sustainability that examines innovative solutions that transcend geographical and disciplinary boundaries. This forward-thinking dimension not only adds a distinctive element to the call but also underscores the critical role of collaborative research to solve global challenges.

 

The Guest Editors invite scholars geographically and epistemically located in the Gulf Region to scrutinize, reflect, and problematize IHE from unique perspectives.

  • Teach STEM programs in Globalized Classrooms.
  • Address grand challenges through international students’ perspectives and experiences  
  • Promote global citizenry by linking classroom knowledge to the profession.
  • Skills and cross-border collaborations needed for a changing digital and global economy.
  • Role of development centers to promote entrepreneurship, critical thinking, & innovation
  • Internationalization as a process for decolonization and the preservation of indigenous processes and practices in the context of higher education and research.

 

Proposals should be 500 words and submitted on or before March 1, 2025. Completed articles should be submitted by April 30, 2025. All articles will undergo a double-blind peer review process and should follow the JCIHE guidelines: https://www.ojed.org/index.php/jcihe/about/submissions. Proposals can be submitted directly to the Guest Editors or can be submitted via the JCIHE website.

يتناول العدد الخاص التحديات الإقليمية ضمن مجال التعليم العالي المقارن والدولي. يسلط النداء الضوء على الجامعات والكليات التقنية والكليات المجتمعية في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة ومؤسسات التعليم العالي في منطقة الخليج. يركز العدد الموضوعي على تدريس برامج STEM، ومعالجة التحديات الكبرى، والاستفادة من التكنولوجيا الرقمية.

ينبغي على المساهمين أن يفحصوا بنوعية الاستراتيجيات والنهج التي تركز على الفعالية والشمولية والتأثير. ويشمل ذلك استراتيجيات الحساسية الثقافية والعدالة والحفاظ على السياق المحلي بنهج مبتكرة تتجاوز الممارسات التقليدية للتدويل. في هذا السياق، يستفيد التدويل في التعليم العالي من الجهود الفكرية التعاونية لمعالجة التحديات العالمية الأكثر إلحاحًا، مع التركيز بشكل خاص على الاستدامة التي تفحص الحلول المبتكرة التي تتجاوز الحدود الجغرافية والتخصصية. تضيف هذه البعد التفكير المستقبلي للنداء عنصرًا مميزًا وتؤكد أيضًا الدور الحيوي للبحث التعاوني في حل التحديات العالمية.

يدعو المحررون الضيوف العلماء الموجودين جغرافيًا ومعرفيًا في منطقة الخليج إلى فحص وتأمل وتوضيح التعليم العالي الدولي من منظورين فريدين.

  • تدريس برامجSTEM في الفصول الدراسية المعممة.
  • معالجة التحديات الكبرى من خلال وجهات نظر وتجارب الطلاب الدوليين.
  • تعزيز المواطنة العالمية من خلال ربط المعرفة الصفية بالمهنة.
  • المهارات والتعاون عبر الحدود اللازمة لاقتصاد رقمي وعالمي متغير.
  • دور مراكز التطوير في تعزيز ريادة الأعمال والتفكير النقدي والابتكار.
  • التدويل كعملية لفك الاستعمار والحفاظ على العمليات والممارسات الأصلية في سياق التعليم العالي والبحث.

يجب أن تكون الاقتراحات عبارة عن 500 كلمة ويجب تقديمها في موعد أقصاه 1 سبتمبر 2024. سيتم إخطار الكتّاب بقبولهم بحلول 1 نوفمبر 2024. يجب تقديم المقالات المكتملة بحلول 30 يناير 2025. ستخضع جميع المقالات لعملية مراجعة مزدوجة المكشوفة ويجب أن تتبع إرشادات مجلة التعليم العالي المقارن والدولي: https://www.ojed.org/index.php/jcihe/about/submissions. يمكن تقديم الاقتراحات مباشرة إلى المحررين الضيوف أو يمكن تقديمها عبر موقع الويب لمجلة التعليم العالي المقارن والدولي.
