Statement of Copyright and Access
The Journal of Underrepresented and Minority Progress supports open access. Authors retain copyright of their work, with first publication rights granted to the STAR Scholars Network. There are no fees to individual authors, and authors can self-archive their work. Morgan State University subsidizes the cost of publishing the journal. Reproduction, posting, transmission, or other distribution or use of the article or any material in any medium requires credit to the Journal of Underrepresented and Minority Progress as the copyright holder.
The journal operates under a Creative Commons License that allows for the reproduction of articles, free of charge, for non-commercial use only and with the appropriate citation information. The following uses are always permitted to the author(s) and do not require further permission, provided the author does not alter the format or content of the articles, including the copyright notification:
• Posting of the article on the author(s) personal website, provided that the website is non-commercial; and
• Posting of the article on the internet as part of a non-commercial open access institutional repository or other non-commercial open access publication site affiliated with the author(s)’s place of employment.
A complete version of the work and all supplemental materials, including a copy of the permission as stated above, in a suitable standard electronic format is deposited immediately upon initial publication in at least one online repository that is supported by Morgan State University to enable open access, unrestricted distribution, interoperability, and long-term archiving.
