Special Issue Editors will oversee a rigorous double-blind review process, curate unique topics, and engage with an international scholarly community.

Did you participate in Fulbright or any faculty exchange program? Tell your stories of exploring the words, the world, and the wonders.

Share a story: Focus on moments, encounters, and experiences that shaped your journey as an international student. Tell a story that no one else could tell. Your story can be about friendship, service, freedom, discrimination, injustice, activism, belonging, family, courage, resilience, citizenship, academics, spirituality, parenthood, discovery, inclusion, self-discovery, growth, etc.
Be brief: Your statement should be between 1,000 and 1,500 words (use template). That’s about 5-10 minutes when read aloud at your natural pace.
Write about real events: Write your true journey as an international student; exchange student; study abroad student; or scholar, current or former.
Describe how you changed: Wrap-up the essay by sharing what you learned from the experience, how it has changed your beliefs, perspectives, or identity, or what the story means to you now as you look back on the events and how it has shaped you.
Be personal: Tell a story from your own life, not an opinion piece or commentary about an issue. Write using words and phrases that are natural for you. Read your story aloud several times, and simplify it so it captures the story as you experienced it.
Tell your challenges and lessons. Flavor your writing with idioms and figures of speech from your language. Paint the picture. Be concrete about what you have seen in your travels, academic encounters, woes, and wows!

Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies in Education (JISE), a flagship journal of the STAR Scholars Network, invites researchers and scholars to contribute to a special issue focused on the intersection of ChatGPT, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and education. This special issue aims to explore the advancements, challenges, and implications of integrating ChatGPT and AI technologies in educational settings.

Background and Objectives:

AI has gained significant attention in the field of education, offering promising opportunities for personalized learning, intelligent tutoring systems, and adaptive learning platforms. ChatGPT, a cutting-edge language model, has demonstrated capabilities in natural language understanding and generating human-like conversations. This special issue seeks to examine how ChatGPT and AI can reshape and enhance teaching practices, learner engagement, and educational outcomes.

Rationale:

ChatGPT presents several advantages, including improved natural language understanding, faster response times, and the potential for more engaging and interactive conversations. However, challenges such as training models to respond appropriately across diverse educational topics, addressing bias, and ensuring ethical considerations are crucial areas for exploration.

This special issue welcomes interdisciplinary research papers, case studies, and conceptual articles that investigate the following topics related to ChatGPT, AI, and education:

Essay Types: We invite submissions in the following formats:

Practitioners' Opinions: Reflective essays sharing insights, experiences, and perspectives related to education and the theme of the special issue.
Empirical Essays: Research-based essays presenting original empirical studies, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
Research in Briefs: Concise essays summarizing ongoing or completed research projects in a condensed format.

Length and Formatting:

Practitioners' Opinions: 1,500-2,000 words
Empirical Essays: 4,000-6,000 words (including references and appendices)
Research in Briefs: 2,500-3,000 words (including references and appendices)

Please do not use footnotes or endnotes. You can use such information within the text. All essays should follow the guidelines of the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th edition.

All editorial members serve a three-year term and can anticipate being asked to review or edit approximately 3 manuscripts per year. The review members or editors hold doctoral degrees, have a minimum of a year experience in higher education, and have expertise in writing and publication. Review members agree to return reviews within four weeks of receipt and to assume a dual role of gatekeeper and shaper of research in the field of international students by providing a rigorous review of manuscripts submitted for publication by offering constructive and encouraging feedback to mentor fellow researchers.

Reviewer Recognition

This journal is a publication of the STAR Scholars Network, a non-profit organization. This journal operates through the voluntary services of board members and editors. Service is an opportunity to engage in significant research activity, view research first hand, and participate in the evaluation of scholarly research. Individuals may use this service towards doctoral degree requirements, faculty tenure, and promotion activities. The journal lists board members' names and affiliation on our website and in print and online volumes. Members also receive a free digital volume of the Journal. No monetary reward as all positions in the Journal is unpaid.
