Call for Manuscripts
International Journal of Multidisciplinary Perspectives in Higher Education (JIMPHE) is an international, open access, and peer-reviewed academic publication (ISSN 2474-2546 in Print; ISSN 2474-2554 Online). It is published bi-annually and the print version for readers in Nepal is sponsored by Midwestern University, a publicly funded institution, there.
Teachers and scholars of any field of study and from around the world who are interested in the discourse of higher education (teaching, research, policy, etc) are invited to submit theoretical and empirically-based research articles, review essays, or teacher/scholar reflections and narratives. This is a print plus web journal though we are only able to circulate print copies in Nepal; readers elsewhere are requested to print from the website. We will also make articles available on the web, including the comment function for readers to join the conversation.
Types of Submissions
Theoretical or empirically-based research articles: We publish research- or theory-based articles on higher education and focusing on teaching, research, curriculum, pedagogy, or policy. Manuscripts may be about specific fields of study (social or natural sciences, arts or humanities, medical or health science, math or engineering), but they must be informative for audiences across the fields and across national/cultural contexts. Scholarly articles must be between 4,000 to 7,000 words. Writers must review these guidelines that reviewers are provided for assessing their manuscripts before submitting their work for consideration.
Review articles: We also include articles that provide readers an overview of scholarship on a topic, especially topics that cross disciplinary borders, scholarship that is not yet crossing cultural/national boundaries, research in one field or place that would be beneficial to another context. Review articles must be 1500-3000 words. The guidelines for standard journal articles generally apply for review articles as well.
Teacher/scholar reflections or narratives: We also consider essays that focus on teachers’/scholars’ experiences and reflections without necessarily being fully up to date on existing scholarship on the topic. We are aware that many teachers and scholars around the world do not have access to most of what is published in academic venues and databases at the global centers; we are interested in promoting scholarly conversation across borders and barriers. Reflections and narratives must be between 1000 and 2000 words. Writers of these items must review the general guidelines and implement criteria that are relevant and feasible.
